The Hidden Mage series continues the story begun in The Spoken Mage series. It follows Elena's daughter, Verene, who is sent to the Kallorwegian Academy for her mage training. As the daughter of an immensely powerful mage, Verene's biggest challenge is that she has no power herself. She is confronted with Darius, the crown prince of Kallorway, a powerful mage with a powerless father (Prince Cassius from the Spoken Mage series).
The new series is set at a new Academy, once more beginning at first year. You can expect Verene and Darius's worlds to expand as the series progresses.
The series builds on a number of new magical elements introduced in the Spoken Mage companion novel, Power of Pen and Voice. Many of these elements will play an important role in the Hidden Mage series.

Crown of Secrets
Verene is a disappointment to her entire kingdom—the first royal ever born without power, despite her mother being the most powerful mage in history. So when she's sent to the Academy in neighboring Kallorway to forge ties with her people's traditional enemies, she's determined to succeed and prove she can still be of value to her kingdom.
Prince Darius of Kallorway is the strongest mage in his family—and the only reason his weak father is still clinging to his throne. Starting at the Academy at the same time as Verene, the crown prince is cold and distant and shows no desire to connect with her. Instead he seems suspicious of both her presence and her claimed lack of power.
Surrounded by unfamiliar politics and long-held enemies, Verene discovers that some at the Academy want her gone by whatever means necessary. As the threats grow ever more sinister, she starts to question all of her assumptions. The hardened prince might just be her best hope of survival and—even more shockingly—he might be right about her power. If Verene wants to survive Kallorway and the Academy, she must uncover her hidden powers and take her true place among the mages.
Crown of Danger
Verene has survived first year. But discovering she possesses a new and dangerous ability has only complicated her tenuous position at the Kallorwegian Academy. Not yet ready to share her new powers with anyone, Verene finds herself with even fewer friends than before.
Darius has returned to the cold and distant prince she first met. And the more she tries to convince him of the danger still lurking in their midst, the further he pushes her away.
Determined to master her new abilities, Verene discovers they far exceed anything she imagined. But as she wrestles with the nature of her new power, she must fight a different battle with the obstinate prince. Because it won't matter how powerful she becomes if she can't convince Darius that he's misplaced his trust.
Crown of Strength
Verene and Darius should be celebrating their greatest triumph, but instead they’re left with heavy responsibilities and too many questions. As they dig deeper for the truth, they discover a threat beyond any they could have imagined.
With enemies both within and without, even the Academy isn’t a safe haven from the looming threat. Verene is ready to use her new powers to defend everything she loves, but she can’t stand alone.
If she and Darius can’t heal the rift between them, then they have no hope of protecting the Academy and uniting a kingdom torn apart by decades of bloodshed and power struggles. And if they can’t unite Kallorway, then destruction is coming for them all.
Crown of Power
Verene is determined to complete her fourth and final year at the Academy, despite her family's opposition to Darius, and his own obstinance about the future of their relationship. And Darius needs to graduate in order to claim his throne.
But with the threat of Conall looming over them, they must be more than just trainees if they hope to save both their kingdoms from the coming war—especially since Verene's abilities may be the only thing that can save them all.
